Travelogue of Jaipur

Last week we were on our little trip to the "Pink City" Jaipur. We decided to hire a driver. We began our journey on Friday evening at about 11 clock. The four-hour drive from Delhi to Jaipur was full of ghosts. We really had fun. Our very first step in the city of Jaipur is surrounded us with an aura of fairness and royal luxury. We were exhausted when we got there. We were booked directly at the hotel, which was in advance of Shweta's cousin. Everything

Zvolen - Slovakia

In 2003 the town of Zvolen celebrated the 760th anniversary of its foundation. The first reliable document of the independent royal town of Zvolen is the royal charter of King Belo IV of December 28, 1243 reinstating the Zvolen's town privileges. Written documents on the existence of the town (settlement), however, date back also earlier than 1243. In 1222 it is written about Detrik - a head of the Zvolen County; at the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries the chronicler Anonymus dates foundation of Zvolen Castle back to the 10th century. Zvolen has lived for years under the auspices of the Castle, today known as the Deserted Castle, which was the seat of the royal "komitat", that is a territory stretching in the area of the whole today's Central Slovakia. The importance of this vast castle (it was divided into the Upper and Lower Castle and its area was over 7 hectares!) faded away a little after building up the new castle right in the town. In the end, the Deserted Castle was burnt down by Ján Huňady's troops in 1452 (according to the latest research) and it remained in ruins. Hungarian King Louis the Great of Anjou had Zvolen Castle built in the second half of the 14th century. Since the time of its founding the Castle has often been rebuilt and had several owners. King Matthias Corvinus and his wife Beatrix would enjoy coming here; it was also a residence of Ján Jiskra of Brandýs, and the Ján Thurzo's possession. The cruelest period in the history of Zvolen was the 16th ...

The city of Luang Phrabang is in north central Laos, on the Mekong River about 425 km north of Vientiane. Until the communist takeover in 1975, it was the "royal capital," the seat of the king of Laos. Today it is a UNESCO World heritage site. NEW YORK TIMES number one destination in the world for 2008. Laos most famous tourist attraction city, Luang Prabang only have about 25000 people living in it and their life is so relax. I consider their life style here is a healthy one. We can see a lot of monks here and you will be able to see them everywhere in the morning when they come out to collect food for their only meal in a day. We call this 'tatt bat'. I can see all locals and even tourists buy foods offering to the monks. This is one beautifull scenery showing we are still living today with many good people around us. Laos and other Indo-China countries are beautiful country to visit! Stop listening to the propaganda craps from some party and most of the outdated news. There are good and bad people in this world. Night market — The night market features vendors selling all the typical Lao arts and crafts, some more touristy than others, and is set up every day ...

Kamthieng House Museum, Epitome Of Northern Thai Architecture

The conventional tools and equipments used by Northern Thai farmers and fishermen is what are exhibited at the 200 year old wooden house which is referred to as the Kamthieng House Museum.
fff
It is the ideal place to visit if one is interested in Thai and Siam style, culture, heritage and arts especially the Lanna style Northern Thai architecture.
This Northern Thai architectural building, earlier located along the banks of the Ping River in Chiang Mai for over 100 years was a private property of the Nimmanahaeminda family before it was handed over to the Siam society that works under the royal patronage. Later on with the assistance of the Asia foundation this wooden house was relocated as a museum in Bangkok in 1964. Mae Nai Haw donated the house to establish it as an ethnological museum in memory of her mother whose name was Kamthieng. It was officially opened in 1966 by His Majesty King Bhumipol Adulyadej.
As a means of preserving the traditional design of a Northern house, this museum also has the five sections which consist of a well, rice pounding shed, kitchen, granary for storing rice and main house for dinning and sleeping. The building is entirely constructed of wooden stilts where the first floor is entirely allocated for agricultural equipments. A tour around this museum allows its guests to understand the practices and rituals of a traditional Lanna family such as animism where they believe in spirits in natural objects. There is also evidence of ancestral worship that has taken place in the guest hall of the main house. The glamorous embroidered fabrics in the bedrooms show the talent in arts and crafts that Lanna society inherited. The other exhibits in the museum such as ornate wooden carvings, traditional musical instruments, and religious items also depict this cultural background of the Lanna society.
If one is visiting this house museum find accommodation at Bangkok serviced apartments such as Bangkok Grand President which provides extremely easy access to this place.

The Brave Defence of The Mission Station at Rorke's Drift

Rorke's Drift is situated 46 km southeast of Dundee and is the place of certainly one of the most well-known conflicts in the Anglo-Zulu war of 1879. The area in and around Rorke's Drift is unspoilt and relaxing. Irishman James Rorke had originally set up a trading post almost 1 mile fr
fff
om the drift (crossing point) on the Buffalo River and was known to the Zulu warriors as KwaJimu (Jim's place). Later, a mission station had been established by the Reverend Otto Witt of the Swedish Missionary Society. Witt built up a little church, mission house and livestock kraal at the foot of a rugged hill which he called Oskarberg.
Lord Chelmsford, had 'requisitioned' Rorke's Drift prior to his traversing of the Buffalo River. He employed the house as a hospital and the chapel as a storehouse. All through the battle it was used as a medical facility. The defence of the mission station of Rorke's Drift quickly followed the British Army's loss at the Battle of Isandlwana earlier on the morning on 22nd January 1879. The devastating Zulu attack on Rorke's Drift came rather close to defeating the little garrison, and the British accomplishment is held as without doubt one of history's best defences. The 11 VCs given for valour at Rorke's Drift are more than for any other military action of all time.

Sighetu Marmatiei (pictures)

Sighetu Marmaţiei, is a city (municipality) in Maramureş County near the Iza River, in north-western Romania. Inhabited since the Hallstatt period, the urban area was situated on an important route that followed the Tisza Valley. The first mention of a settlement dates back to the 11th century, and the city as such was first mentioned in 1326. In 1352, it was a free royal town and the capital of Máramaros comitatus of the Kingdom of Hungary. From 1556, the settlement - like the Castle of Huszt - was a residence of Transylvanian Princes; from 1570 to 1733, the town and the county were part of the Principality of Transylvania. In 1733, King Charles III returned it and Máramaros County to his Hungarian domain. Sighetu Marmaţiei was one of the Romanian, Rusyn, and Jewish cultural and political centers in the Kingdom of Hungary. The Jewish community was led by the Teitelbaum family — who also led the Satmar Hasidic community. It became part of the Kingdom of Romania at the end of World War I (Greater Romania), and was again under Hungarian administration during World War II as a result of the Second Vienna Award. The latter lasted until 1944 and in these years more than 20000 Jews from Sighet would be sent to Auschwitz (including the Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel, born in Sighet) and other Nazi extermination camps. Nowadays there are only about 21 Jews living in Sighetu Marmaţiei. The Treaty of Paris at the end of World War II voided the Vienna Diktat, and Sighetu ...

What to Expect on your First Family Cruise

Cruises are a great way for families with children to vacation because they offer a variety of entertainment options for kids of all ages. Cruises also eliminate the hassle of packing and unpacking and moving between destinations that can be a nightmarish endeavor with young children in tow. Once you board the ship, you don't have to leave, unless you want to explore the various ports of call. There
fff
are plenty of activities to keep mom, dad and the kids completely occupied and entertained.
Realizing that families are a hot target demographic, many cruise lines have implemented special age-appropriate supervised children's and teen clubs and activities. Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Celebrity Cruises are three cruise lines that offer specialty programs for kids. In addition, most cruise lines also offer family-oriented activities that can be enjoyed outside of any specialized kid's clubs or groups.
Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines
The Royal Caribbean cruise line is especially kid-friendly, with programs for every age group. It starts with their Aqua Babies (6 – 18 months) and Aqua Tots (18 – 36 months) Programs, which were developed by Fisher-Price exclusively for Royal Caribbean International. In these programs, trained youth staff supervises activities with parents or caregivers present.
Kids 3-years old and up move into Royal Caribbean's Adventure Ocean Youth Program. This program blends fun with educational activities suited to different age groups. Activities range from coloring and arts and crafts to sports and music. The program serves children up to 17 years of age, though older kids might prefer just hanging out at the ship's teen-only night club. Best of all, parents can feel confident leaving their children in these programs, as Royal Caribbean's Adventure Ocean Staff is comprised only of counselors with a college degree in education or a similar field, or has qualified experience working with children.
If you are looking for a family friendly cruise, one to check out is Royal Caribbean's 7- Night Eastern Caribbean Cruise. The ship is the Liberty of the Seas and it departs from Miami, Florida, with stops in Philipsburg, St. Maarten, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Labadee, Haiti.  In addition to the Adventure Ocean Youth Program, onboard family friendly activities include an ice skating rink, a rock climbing wall, a surf park and the H2O Zone water park.
Carnival Cruise Lines
Another cruise line with a great kid-friendly activities program is Carnival. Their Camp Carnival, Circle C and Club O2 programs are known for their enthusiastic counselors, interactive programs and good old-fashioned fun.
Camp Carnival is the cruise line's year-round program for kids ages 2 to 11. Activities include finger painting, story time and arts & crafts for toddler (2 to 5 years old). For juniors (ages 6 to 8), there is volcano making, outdoor fun and games and Knight's Night. Intermediates (ages 9 to 11) can play sports, board games or PlayStation2. There are also family activities such as ice cream sundae making, a kids' talent show and a scavenger hunt.
Older kids, ages 12 to 14, move on to the Circle C group, where they have supervised activities such as dance parties, outdoor movies and nighttime swims. They also have special shore excursions, like the Dolphins Encounter and River Tubing.
Teens, ages 15 to 17, move on to Club O2, where they can watch movies, listen to music, play video games, sing karaoke or just hang out with friends. There are also supervised teen-only excursions, like horseback riding, the America's Cup Regatta (St. Maarten) and Dunn's River Falls (Ochos Rios).
Families looking for a cruise on Carnival should check out their 7-Night Eastern Caribbean cruise aboard the Pride. The ship departs from Baltimore, Maryland, and makes stops in Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Freeport. The Pride features such family friendly amenities as Camp Carnival's Fun Club, a kids' pool and an arcade.
Celebrity Cruise Lines
On Celebrity Cruises, there are various programs available year round for kids up to age 17. Children under 3 years old have Toddler Time, where they can play with their parents and other kids their age with age appropriate interactive toys and games. Children over age 3 move into the Fun Factory categor
fff
y which has different levels geared to specific age groups. Those ages 3 to 5 have Ship Mates. Six to 8 year olds move on to Celebrity Cadets. Those ages 9 to 11 head to Ensigns. For each age group, the Fun Factory entertainment center is where kids can enjoy crafts, music, karaoke, treasure hunts, theme parties, movies and video games.
Cruise kids, ages 12 to 17, have Admiral Teens: the ultimate hang-out place with games, sports and teen-only dances.Celebrity Cruises also offers babysitting services, so parents can enjoy some time alone. Babysitting services cover children 12 months and older for in-stateroom childcare. For group childcare in the Fun Factory, children must be between ages 3 and 11.
A good Celebrity Cruise for families is their 7-Night Alaska Cruise aboard the Infinity. The ship departs from Seattle, with stops in Ketchikan, Tracy Arm Fjord, Juneau, Skagway, Inside Passage, and Victoria. Onboard, kids can take part in the Celebrity X-Club Youth Program where they can try their hands at activities like talent shows, treasure hunts, dinner parties and late-night slumber parties.

Take Varanasi Tours To Explore The Indian Hub Of Spirituality, Culture And Beauty

India is an endless expanse of history, culture and life. Be it the serene beauty of Kashmir, the calm of the Kerala ‘backwaters' or the islands of Andaman and Nicobar. India has captured the imagination of t
fff
he world for centuries. The diversity of the Indian sub-continent is what makes it a tourist hot-spot even today. From the metropolitan city of Delhi to the beaches of Goa there is everything for the traveller's soul in this country.
When talking of India one must not forget its biggest occupation – religion. In the land of mystics the centre stage is held by Varanasi. Varanasi, is known most commonly as Benaras and also as Kashi meaning – The Luminous. For this reason it has often been christened as ‘The City Of Light'. This holy city forms the centre of all Hindu life as it is believed to have been founded by the Hindu God – Lord Shiva. The city is over 3000 years old and is the oldest city in the country. Situated on the western bank of the sacred River Ganges it is a popular tourist spot for devotees. Very little can compare to the splendour of Varanasi when seen from the river at dawn. There are over 70 bathing banks along the river Ganges which according to mythology is believed to have ‘fallen from heaven to earth'. A rinse in this holy river is the first act that the pilgrim must perform.
However Varanasi is not only a place of pilgrimage. Banarasi silk which is one of the most exquisite and popular silks sold in the country is found exclusively in this city. The most famous landmark of Varanasi and a must visit place is the Benaras Hindu University(BHU) which was founded in 1916 by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. It is the largest residential university in Asia and has over 12,000 students living on campus. Another tourist spot is the Ramnagar Fort which is located about 14 kilometers from Varanasi and lies on the opposite banks of the river Ganges. It has been the home of the Benaras Royal Family for several centuries. In recent times the popular Bengali movie ‘Choker Bali' was shot here. Apart from these there is also the Jantar Mantar which is an observatory built by the Maharaja Of Jaipur, Jai Singh, in 1737. It has been built in accordance with the observatories at Delhi, Jaipur, Mathra and Ujjain.
This ancient city gives an old world feel even today and can never tell which century they are while walking along the narrow streets of Benaras. The city has gathered the cumilitative Hindu tradition even to it's present form. It is a city that carries forward it's ageless culture into an era of wavering beliefs and faith. One must truly visit this holy city to be reminded of the serenity of the ancient past of a land as old as time.
So, let there be no further delay as you pack your bags and research the various Varanasi tours options available and book one to plan your holiday right away!

Pocket Battleship Adm. Graf Spee Pt 9-9 - USS Salem

The sinking of the Graf Spee was dramatised in the 1956 film The Battle of the River Plate, directed by Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger. The Graf spee was portrayed in the movie by the American heavy cruiser USS Salem. A tactical computer game called Admiral Graf Spee was released by Temptation Software for the ZX Spectrum in 1982. Most of the sea action was filmed on real ships. The producers were lucky enough to have various ships of the Royal Navy's Mediterranean Fleet at their disposal. The heavy cruiser USS Salem was used in the role of the Graf Spee. Ships used in the film: HMS Sheffield as HMS Ajax, INS Delhi (HMS Achilles 1933-41, HMNZS Achilles 1941-46) as HMS Achilles, HMS Cumberland as HMS Cumberland, Heavy Cruiser USS Salem as the German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee. Light cruiser HMS Jamaica played the played the part of heavy cruiser HMS Exeter. HMS Battleaxe was also used as a camera ship (off Malta). The US Navy would not allow any Nazi insignia to be displayed on the USS Salem. Footage of the wartime German flag and other insignia was filmed on British ships. HMS Birmingham was used as a camera ship. The Midshipmen's quarters were empty because Captain Langsdorff had promoted all of his Midshipmen to Ensigns in order to make room for his prisoners. Location filming started on 13 December 1955, the 16th anniversary of the battle. The River Plate Association in Auckland sent a good-luck message to the crew. "Congratulations on choice of day. The City of Light is the most celebrated of Europe's metropoli

tan crown jewels. It is acknowledged as having the most number of recognizable landmarks within a single city; the iconic Eiffel Tower, majestic Notre Dame Cathedral and the spectacular Louvre are merely the tip of the iceberg when considering the plethora of stunning architectural edifices that populate either bank of the serene River Seine. The city is a centuries-old magnet for romance, culture and pageantry that can only be called transcendental in its grandeur and charm.

Visiting Colorado on Your Next Road Trip

Colorado’s scenery is dramatic, diverse and downright beautiful. Towering mountains, exquisite wildflowers, rivers, streams, forests, snow-blanketed hills and bright blue skies overwhelm the senses. So pack a camera and a pair of binoculars for close-up views of the "Centennial State’s" abundant scenery and wildlife. Then set off on a slow and easy drive through rema
fff
rkable, memorable Colorado. Stay at fantastic Colorado campgrounds and elegant Colorado RV camping resorts along the way.
Pack a camera and a pair of binoculars for close-up views of the "Centennial State’s" abundant scenery and wildlife.
In northwest Colorado, and extending over the border into Utah, Dinosaur National Monument is near the town of Dinosaur. The park’s Dinosaur Quarry is in Utah and is most definitely worth the trip. Experience the exhibit of more than 1,500 dinosaur bones plus life-size reproductions of prehistoric beasts. There’s even an observation window that lets visitors peek inside the park’s active paleontology lab. There are engaging automobile tours to wonders like Tilted Rocks and Echo Park, where the Green and Yampa Rivers merge. Guests can inspect petroglyphs carved by prehistoric American Indians or they can walk along nature trails that lead to waterfalls or glorious, western vistas of mountain crests and sandstone canyons. The fishing is fine on the Yampa and Green Rivers; rafters find amazing adventures on local whitewater excursions.
Mesa Verde National Park is a World Heritage Site and a notable archaeological center in southwestern Colorado near Mancos. The name translates as "green table." But its primary attraction is the ample evidence of mechanical engineering that originated between 600 A.D. and 1300 A.D. The park preserves pueblos or villages skillfully carved into the existing walls of Mesa Verde’s rocky canyon. Fortunately for today’s tourists, these pueblos were constructed so well that curious visitors are permitted to climb on up and check them out without compromising their structural integrity. From an archaeological perspective, it’s interesting to note that twenty four, modern day, southwestern native tribes trace their ancestry to the ancient, pueblo-building people who once lived and thrived at Mesa Verde. Besides individual house tours and visits to the Mesa Museum, park guests explore the preserve’s hiking trails or drive Mesa’s Top Loop Road. The roadside displays and panoramic stops on this automobile trail are well worth the extra time required.
In the west central part of Colorado near Gunnison, Curecanti National Recreation Area includes the Blue Mesa, Morrow Point, and Crystal Reservoirs. Besides preserving the state’s biggest waterway and the nation’s prime Kokanee salmon fishery, Curecanti contains archaeologically significant dinosaur bones and the remnants of aged dwellings dating back six millenniums. The scenic drives, horseback rides and an impressive variety of hiking trails where Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, bobcats and great blue heron might be seen, aren’t too shabby, either. Curecanti’s guests also find good hunting grounds and top-notch fishing with likely catches of trout and Kokanee salmon. Boating, sailing, windsurfing, and skiing are popular summer activities and the winter season attracts guests who are ready for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, ice fishing or skating.
Colorado’s north central region is the home of Rocky Mountain National Park, a Biosphere Reserve located between Estes Park and Grand Lake. Dozens of Colorado line the park, for close proximity to hiking and biking the great trails.  The park is a land of fabulous contrasts – rugged, frosty summits; eerie, windswept tundra; rushing waters; woodlands; and meadows of vibrant wildflowers. Visitors should treat themselves to the 50-mile driving tour of Trail Ridge, which is both an All-American Road and National Scenic Byway. Trail Ridge takes visitors across the Continental Divide and on a 400-feet ascent to the alpine tundra. Up above the timberline, the tundra is an arctic-style zone of miniature plants and treeless terrain that looks more like a lunar exploration site than a national park byway. After the Trail Ridge experience, guests may choose to hike to a waterfall, ramble past Bear Lake, or attend a ranger-guided "Full Moon Walk" where a moose or tuft-eared squirrel might be enc
fff
ountered along your path.
Pike’s Peak, towering a majestic 14,110 feet, is one of our country’s crown jewels. A round-trip drive along Pike’s Peak Highway to the summit provides breathtaking views of the Sangre de Cristo Range, and the Gold Rush town of Cripple Creek. Journey to Seven Falls and South Cheyenne Canon and take a look at the Pillars of Hercules, the spot where the canon narrows to 42 feet in width as 1,000-foot cliffs tower overhead. Because you can take a mountain elevator, everyone can enjoy a trip to this spectacular natural wonder.
Yet another "must-see" in the area is Royal Gorge Bridge & Park. Here you’ll find the world’s highest suspension bridge – soaring 1,053 feet above the Arkansas River. Enjoy an aerial tram ride as well as an incline railway. Other attractions include Gardens of the Gods, a park complete with beautiful scenery.
In south central Colorado, Great Sand Dunes National Park is just above Alamosa. The North American continent’s highest dunes are 700 feet tall and set against the contrasting backdrop of the jagged Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Great Sand Dunes encompasses 30 square miles of desert-like mounds, as well as spruce and pine forests, grasslands, and wetlands. The park has a number of 13,000-foot mountain peaks plus icy lakes and tundra. There are creeks, meadows, canyons, and cascades, a million nooks and crannies for wildlife and people to wander. It’s an exceptional range of terrain for one park to span, and fortunate Great Sand Dunes visitors have a chance to experience them all.

Boca da Valeria: Primitive Pocket of the Amazon, Amazon River Forest, Royal Princess

Upon extension of the Royal Princess’s hydraulically-actuated tender boarding ramp on Deck 3, several tiny, wooden canoes barely large enough to support the village’s families and children and so immersed in the muddy Amazon that the water level had been parallel with their sides and had to be continually scooped back out, rowed out to the behemoth liner to look, gawk, and touch “civilization,” a lifestyle unknown to them and therefore something akin to an extraterrestrial visitor to the earth.  Although the ship’s passengers had eagerly anticipated a taste of the local way of life, this first encounter had indicated that they considered the experience every bit the reciprocal and, if it had not been for their benign curiosity, they themselves could have been construed as “invaders.”

Small Wonders at the Corner

Have you ever given a thought about the place that grows the basic element of your morning cup of tea? May be you have been to Darjeeling or the Nilgiris and roamed around the sloppy tea estates on green hills. But, what about the place that produces the largest chunk of the tea exported from India? Wouldn't it be nice to visit the world's largest tea producing region with over 600 tea estates and experience the place and its culture? But, apart from being the second largest commercial tea production region in the world after China, Assam has much more elements of significance to its world wide reputation.
So, here we are, taking you to a small town in the middle of the state that offers a combination of all the significant things about this Eastern state. Jorhat, the last capital of the decaying and declining Tunkhungia Ahom Dynasty as the name signifies, was just a pair (Jor) of markets (Hat) namely, Chowkihut and Macharhut. Nestled on the eastern and the western banks of the river Bhogdoi, Jorhat is celebrated for its Vaishnavite cultural centers in the world's biggest riverine island 'Majuli' and the lush green tea gardens.
A brief-up
If you like to travel across small towns having a world of their own then we just found you the right destination for your next exploration. However, Jorhat today has grown into a thriving city and as the best laid out town in Upper Assam with a better connectivity to the rest of the country. So, you will not crib about bad roads and lack of facilities. Known as "The Cultural Capital of Assam", Jorhat also has the distinction of having the largest number of educated residents in Assam. While visiting Kaziranga National park, the habitat of the World famous one horned rhinos, extend the visit to Jorhat or simply head straight to this land.
The biggest attraction of the place is no doubt Majuli, the largest riverine island in the World. Too many titles for a small place to hold! Located in the middle of Brahmaputra valley, Majuli houses a thriving town and its vastness will make you wonder if you are really visiting an island or not. A population of around 1.5 lakh people on the island makes it the largest inhabited riverine island in the world. Just a few kilometers of drive from the Jorhat town and an hour long ferry ride will take to this land of marvel. But accommodations and travel arrangements should be booked beforehand.
There are number of Vaishnav monasteries called ‘Satras' on the island that one can visit to understand the great cultural and religious ways of the people living there. Drastically reduced to 22 numbers, these Satras have always been the subjects of much research from tourists and scholars across the globe. The most important of the remaining Satras are Kamalabari, Auniati and Garamur and there, you will be surprised to see things beyond religion. Educated, cultured and talented bunch of people vowing to keep up the tradition of the Vaishnavas are indeed worth admiration.
The Bonus
If you are never tired of nature and its innumerable offerings, then you will swear by its abundance on this island. Being a wetland, Majuli is home to some endangered species of birds, both locale and migratory and different flora and fauna. Do we need to tell you how spectacular the mighty river Brahmaputra looks as the evening sun dives deep into the serene water and the redness of the sun gets smudged? By now, you must be contemplating the possibilities of you turning into a poet, a photographer or a philosopher. The flocks of flamingoes returning to their nests and the lonely boatman returning home with his days catch is not something you haven't heard of. But, trust us; such moments in life are best experienced then read in a travel magazine.
But, we strongly suggest you visit the island during the three day Ras Purnima festival celebrated somewhere near November when the cultural fervor reaches its peak. Experience, this great Indian love saga with a real full moon at the backdrop and it will be the experience of a lifetime. A moonlit stage, a live Krishna-Radha pair, the maddening dance, the feeling of love and devotion and the swaying crowd- do we need to explain more?
Getting around
Now, having returned from this land of enchantment, visit Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar (place of worship) in Assam, established by saint-reformer Madhabdev in 1461. Just 3.5 kms away from National Highway 37, this place accommodates the exercise of Baisnav Religion. Submerge yourself in the recitals and eat some healthy Prasad made of soaked grams, lentils, rice, coconut and salt. Skip this place if you are not much interested in knowing the religious practices of the place.
And getting back to the Ahom capital days, there are not many signage of the era as it was believed to be a temporary capital. But, Lachit Borphukan's Maidam, the tomb of the greatest ever Ahom general who defeated the mighty Mughals at Saraighat in 1672 is of major connotation. There are several such small structures which can interest you. Just roam around and you will know. But, what if you don't find much ancient stuff; the remains of the British era can excite you as well.
Established by the British, Jorhat Gymkhana Club has been a venue for horse races ever since its inauguration. A lush green 9-hole golf course circuit vying for a position in the "World Heritage list" as the oldest golf course in Asia offers facilities in lawn tennis grass courts, swimming pool, billiards, polo, gentleman's bar and a cinema theatre. Didn't we tell you, you will never complain about lack of facilities? Moreover, if you really want a royal treatment, then the Thengal Bhawan a few miles away from the main town is the place to be.
Built in 1880 by Raibahadur Shiva Prasad Barooah, an affluent Assamese, this place is the epitome of the sophistication this place is known for. Now turned into a 3 star heritage hotel, the palatial structure can be your ultimate sojourn spot thousands of miles away from a busy life. Just roam around the tea gardens situated nearby. Suck out the green in everything you see around you. Your world will be at peace. A sneak peek at the tea factories can also be a different experience.
In the town area, there not much to shop as things are a bit expensive thanks to the rich tea garden lives, but a glimpse of the Gar Ali, the business street of the town can be a perfect evening outing. Don't forget that Jorhat is famous for sumptuous Mughlai Paranthas. Break into any of the restaurants in the area for a nice treat. Belle-Amies, Woodland, BeeZee Inn are a few well known places to eat out. Also, don't miss the local Golgappawalas and Scoops, the favorite ice-cream parlor of the locals. A few packets of pure and fresh Assam tea can be a nice gift for your loved ones for who doesn't want to wake up to the aroma of a freshly brewed cup of tea?
But, being a trustworthy travel guide, we don't want you to end your great Assam experience here as you can always extend your stay and make the most of your travel by planning excursions to the nearby places like Sibasagar- Ahom capital of great historical interest, the Numaligarh Refinery and the Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary.
Diversity of things to do in the area is many and we think you will love this great combination of culture, leisure and nature because, vacations do not always mean crowded hill stations and famous beaches. There are some journeys in life that give you an insight and that is exactly what we just presented to you. Spin on and experience- that is all we want to say.

As for Danube River Cruises Pack

If you think about going for a holiday on the Danube river cruises, it is important to know, how to pack. What do you need to include the weather, shipping requirements, and room for souvenirs. Danube cruises offer many things to do and see, but if you wrong pack you might find yourself needed to spend needs to leave cash.

Danube cruise takes place during the warmer months of the year. You should pack light clothing for warmWeather. Packing light means light pants and light shirts. You do not want to be overdressed for this holiday. The days are warm. The evenings can cool down a bit to make it important to have a light sweater if you get cold. Another thing to consider when you pack your clothing is comfortable shoes. Many people bring flip-flops, because they go cruising on the Danube river thinking it all the time sitting on the deck watching the landscape. This is not theCase. Please bring a pair of good walking shoes, because you leave the ship and want to walk around the port cities. Without comfortable shoes you could be miserable.

The 3-day cruises have formal or gala evenings you should be prepared. When you pack for a cruise on the river it is okay, usually pack for comfort and casual wear. But in the evening on the ship you could visit a captain or the manager's dinner. This dining experience is not required toDress nice, but you should. Some cruises have a formal dinner, the passengers must wear a tuxedo or formal dress. Make sure note of a dress for special occasions on the ship. If you plan to attend an event like an opera in a foreign country, you need to bring the right clothes.

There is also a good idea, the different places you go to along the coast and all the people you will bring back souvenirs could travel to be taken into account. They areSouvenirs to bring home to people, you must be sure to have plenty of room in the suitcase. Not to pack your bags and no room for souvenirs. Danube River cruises have shops on the ship, and there are many ways to the ports for shopping at them. If you do not have space in your suitcase then you have a miserable trip home carrying all the bags with you through airports and on board the aircraft. In addition, some airlines choose, charge you for feesAdditional hand luggage or if you need to check in another bag. You might want to compare and find the case is best for your trip. You do not pack too much clothing when you take a 3 day cruise.

If you cruise the Danube, it is important for packaging, comfortable pack light clothing for warm weather, dass Remember, comfortable pair of walking shoes for trips and elegant outfit may bring a one. Always check all dress codeRequirements and enough space in your suitcase for shopping.
